Learner Biography Project

Purpose of the assessment: to demonstrate knowledge & understanding of students & how they learn (NSWIT 2.1.1 – 2.1.5), to promote opportunities for effective communication (NSWIT 4.1.1 – 4.1.5,) reflection & collaboration with peers

(NSWIT 6.1.1, 6.1.4 – 6.1.7)

Assessment weighting: 30%

Submission date: Friday, 4 June (week 15)

Submission format: written or multimedia

Length: 1,800 words

The Learner Biography Project comprises two parts and should be developed throughout the semester. The first part is a group activity where members of the group are expected to consider their own experiences of learning. Members should endeavour to consider items and issues raised in the lecture/seminar sessions to stimulate their thinking. The submitted Project should provide an overview of the learning experiences of group members, considering:

  • What facilitated learning
  • What impeded learning
  • How learning could have been enhanced using different approaches, resources etc
  • Reactions to the learning experiences of other group members

The second part concerns developing an ideal learning arrangement informed by academic literature. Your submission should include:

  • An individual Learning philosophy statement concerning:
    • What constitutes learning for you?
    • How can desired learning environments be created and sustained?
    • Reference to academic material that supports your learning philosophy statement
